Argentina Open: Kovinic reaches last 4
Danka Kovinic won against Diana Shnaider 6-4, 6-3 on Friday and will face Argentinian wildcard Paula Ormaechea in the next round
Montenegrin Danka Kovinic, the second seed, won against Russian qualifier Diana Shnaider 6-4, 6-3 to move into the last 4 of the Argentina Open at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Friday.
Kovinic, ranked No 71, will face Argentinian wildcard Paula Ormaechea next.
The Montenegrin defeated Argentinian qualifier Julia Riera (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) and Argentinian wildcard Nadia Podoroska (6-2, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Shnaider, ranked No 161, beat Romanian Irina Bara (6-1, 6-4) and edged out lucky loser Darya Astakhova (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).
