Nakashima qualifies for semis at Next Gen ATP Finals with perfect 3-0 record
Brandon Nakashima has qualified for the semi-finals in Milan for the second straight season – but in 2022 he has done it without a single blemish to his record.
Experience is proving to be a boon for American Brandon Nakashima. Making his second appearance in Milan, the 21-year-old powered into the last four undefeated, finishing off group play on Thursday with a 4-3(4), 4-2, 4-1 triumph over Italy’s Francesco Passaro.
“I know he has had a great year this year. I thought my level was really high today,” Nakashima said after his win. “It was nice to see it carrying over from yesterday. To come out and play like that was super special.”
Nakashima, who also reached the semi-finals last year at the Next Gen ATP Finals (loss to Korda), will face either Lorenzo Musetti or Jack Draper in his semi-final clash on Friday at Milan. The American, who claimed his maiden ATP title in September in San Diego, has 33 wins on tour this season.
