Bianca Andreescu and coach Sven Groeneveld have parted ways
The former US Open champ is in the market for a new coach after a split with Sven Groeneveld.
The end of the season is typically a time for coaching upheaval and 2022 is no exception. Last week we learned of Emma Raducanu’s split with coach Dmitry Tursunov, and on Thursday the split between former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and coach Sven Groeneveld has been made public.
The pair worked together for over a year, commencing their pairing in the summer of 2021.
Today Groeneveld announced the split on Twitter. The former longtime coach of Maria Sharapova and many others seems to have initiated the break up.
“I have decided not to extend our collaboration,” he wrote on Twitter, adding: “I am keen on new challenges in the men’s our women’s game.”
Former world No 4 Andreescu went 19-12 for the season, reaching a final at Bad Homburg. She went 2-5 against the top-10 and closes her season at 46 in the world.
As of yet, Andreescu hasn’t posted on social media about the split.
