Italian Jasmine Paolini reached the quarter-finals of the Transylvania Open by Verdino by beating Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday evening.
Paolini, ranked No 78, will play the winner of the match between German Jule Niemeier and Russian qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova next.
The Italian edged out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 6 seed (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Yastremska, ranked No 94, edged out German lucky loser Tamara Korpatsch (6-3, 4-6, 7-5).
