American Madison Keys defeated Australian qualifier Ellen Perez 6-1, 6-4 to move into the second round of the San Diego Open at the Barnes Tennis Centre on Monday evening.
Keys, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the match between Canadian wildcard Leylah Fernandez and Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 8 seed, next.
