Reka Luca Jani edged out No 6 seed Panna Udvardy 0-6, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy on Friday night.
Jani, ranked No 114, will face the winner of the match between Belgian Maryna Zanevska and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Reka Luca Jani won against Italian Nuria Brancaccio (6-3, 6-3) and Swiss Simona Waltert (6-4, 2-6, 6-1).
Udvardy, ranked No 76, defeated Romanian qualifier Cristina Dinu (7-5, 7-5) and edged out Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (2-6, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
