Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the No 6 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy by edging out Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Udvardy, ranked No 76, will play the winner of the match between Swiss Simona Waltert and Hungarian Reka Luca Jani next.
The Hungarian won against Romanian qualifier Cristina Dinu (7-5, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Tomova, ranked No 98, defeated Romanian wildcard Ilona Georgiana Ghioroaie (6-1, 6-3).
