Hungarian Reka Luca Jani won against Romanian Alexandra Cadanțu-Ignatik 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Open delle Puglie on Thursday evening.
Jani, ranked No 133, will face the winner of the match between Sara Errani and No 5 seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto next.
In the previous round, the Hungarian benefited from the abandonment of Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (5-5).
Cadanțu-Ignatik, ranked No 178, benefited from the abandonment of Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 4 seed (6-0) in the 32.
