Dutch qualifier Eva Vedder reached the last eight of the Open delle Puglie by defeating Montenegrin Danka Kovinic, the second seed, 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
Vedder, ranked No 287, will play Italian wildcard Matilde Paoletti next.
The 22-year-old Dutchman won against Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Kovinic, ranked No 80, edged out Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl (6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6)).
