US Open: Sousa advances to second round, eliminating McDonald – Norrie next
João Sousa defeated Mackenzie McDonald 1-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-3 on Tuesday evening and will play No 7 seed Cameron Norrie in the next round

Portuguese João Sousa advanced to the second round of the US Open by beating American Mackenzie McDonald 1-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Tuesday evening.
Sousa, ranked No 59, will play No 7 seed Cameron Norrie next.
