Chinese Qiang Wang beat Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the No 5 seed, 6-0, 0-6, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Thoreau Open at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Thursday evening.
Wang, ranked No 110, will face Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 4 seed, next.
The Chinese won against Georgian Mariam Bolkvadze (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Concord Open.
During the first round of the Concord Open, Golubic, ranked No 91, edged out American wildcard Ashlyn Krueger (6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (3)).
