Thoreau Open: Volynets into second round
Katie Volynets edged out Greet Minnen 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between Ukrainian qualifier Kateryna Volodko and Frenchwoman Harmony Tan in the next round
American Katie Volynets advanced to the second round of the Thoreau Open by edging out Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Tuesday afternoon.
Volynets, ranked No 119, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian qualifier Kateryna Volodko and Frenchwoman Harmony Tan next.
