American Catherine McNally advanced to the second round of the Thoreau Open by defeating Russian Anastasia Gasanova 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Tuesday.
McNally, ranked No 170, will play Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 4 seed, next.
