Ruusuvuori into last 16 in Washington, defeating No 2 seed Hurkacz

Finn Emil Ruusuvuori won against Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the second seed, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to move into the last 16 of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Wednesday.

Ruusuvuori, ranked No 46, will face the winner of the match between Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 15 seed, and Swede Mikael Ymer next.

This is Ruusuvuori’s best win by ranking since his victory against Alexander Zverev in 2021 in Miami. The Finn edged out American Mackenzie McDonald (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the first round.
