Australian Ajla Tomljanovic won against American Sloane Stephens 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Citi Open on Tuesday. Tomljanovic, ranked No 69, will face Russian Liudmila Samsonova next.
This was the first win for Tomljanovic over the former US Open champion with Stephens having won all of their six previous encounters.
