No 6 seed Jenson Brooksby won against Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Atlanta Open at the Atlantic Stadion on Thursday evening.
Brooksby, ranked No 43, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Ben Shelton and second seed John Isner next.
Jenson Brooksby beat Frenchman Benoit Paire (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round.
During the first round, McDonald, ranked No 51, won against Denis Kudla (6-2, 7-6 (8)).
