Tommy Paul Reaches Atlanta Quarter-final

American Tommy Paul, the No 5 seed, moved into the last eight of the Atlanta Open by defeating SoonWoo Kwon 6-3, 6-3 at the Atlantic Stadion on Wednesday evening.

Paul, ranked No 36, will play the winner of the match between American Reilly Opelka, the top seed, and Belarusian Ilya Ivashka next.

Paul, who improved to 25-17 on the season, matched his personal best win total and reached his 7th ATP quarter-final of 2022.

In the previous round, the American won against wildcard Jack Sock (6-1, 6-1).

Kwon, ranked No 76, edged out American Marcos Giron (7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-5) during the first round.
