Palermo Open: Begu into final against Bronzetti
Irina-Camelia Begu edged out Sara Sorribes Tormo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday evening and will play Lucia Bronzetti for the title
Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 6 seed, reached the final of the Palermo Open by edging out Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 4 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at A.S.D. Country Time Club in Palerme on Saturday evening.
Begu, ranked No 45, will face Lucia Bronzetti next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Romanian beat Spanish qualifier Marina Bassols Ribera (6-3, 4-6, 6-3), Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (1-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-1, 6-3).
Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 41, won against Romanian Ana Bogdan (2-6, 6-4, 6-2), French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean (6-0, 6-2) and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
