Hamburg Open: Pera makes final

American Bernarda Pera advanced to the final of the Hamburg Open by defeating Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 7 seed, 6-2, 6-4 at Am Rothenbaum in Hambourg on Friday.

Pera, ranked No 81, will play the winner of the match between Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the top seed, and Russian Anastasia Potapova next.

The American won against Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse, the No 9 seed (6-0, 6-4), Swiss qualifier Joanne Zuger (6-1, 6-1) and Czech Katerina Siniakova (6-3, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.

Zanevska, ranked No 72, beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (4-6, 6-4, 6-3), Romanian qualifier Alexandra Ignatik (6-4, 6-1) and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 4 seed (6-4, 7-5).
