ALERT – Nordea Open: Cerundolo wins the trophy
Francisco Cerundolo won the title on Sunday afternoon against Sebastian Baez.
Francisco Cerundolo beat No 8 seed Sebastian Baez 7-6 (4), 6-2 to win the Nordea Open trophy at Bastad on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the tournament, Cerundolo, ranked No 39, defeated Portuguese qualifier Pedro Sousa (6-4, 6-3), Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-5), Russian Aslan Karatsev (7-5, 6-1) and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-2).
Baez, ranked No 34, defeated Italian lucky loser Fabio Fognini (6-3, 6-4), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-2, 6-3), Austrian Dominic Thiem (6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the second seed (6-2, 6-4) in the previous rounds of Bastad.
