Bastad : Karatsev books spot in last eight, defeating Gaston

Russian Aslan Karatsev defeated Frenchman Hugo Gaston 6-2, 6-4 to move into the last eight of the Nordea Open at the Båstads tennisstadion in Bastad on Wednesday evening. Karatsev, ranked No 40, will play Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo next.
The Russian edged out Italian Lorenzo Sonego (6-0, 2-6, 6-4) ahead of his victory. Gaston, ranked No 58, benefited from the abandonment of Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, the No 6 seed (7-6 (6), 3-0).
