Grand Est Open: Bucsa reaches quarter-finals

Cristina Bucsa won against Arantxa Rus 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday afternoon. She’ll play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet and Russian qualifier Erika Andreeva in the next round

Spaniard Cristina Bucsa won against Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 5 seed, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Grand Est Open at Tennis Club de Contrexéville on Thursday afternoon.

Bucsa, ranked No 131, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet and Russian qualifier Erika Andreeva next.

In the previous round, the Spaniard defeated Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (6-2, 6-3).

Rus, ranked No 86, won against French wildcard Julie Gervais (6-0, 6-3) in the previous round.
